      Tool Engineer – Newburyport, MA Newburyport, MA

      Da/Pro Rubber, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of precision molded rubber and plastic components for various industries.  We are searching for a Tool Engineer to become part of our Plastic Injection Molding team. All product produced at Da/Pro is custom-ordered and designed.  Molds are designed in-house to be used as a part of our proprietary manufacturing process.  The Tool Designer is the primary project coordinator for new parts, from design through implementation.

      This position is located at our Newburyport, MA plant – 15 Malcolm Hoyt Drive.

      Job Duties

      • Create designs of plastic and TPE molds
      • Create bill of materials for mold designs and purchase necessary items to complete job
      • Interface with Machine Shop personnel and vendors to produce molds to specification
      • Control cost of new mold builds
      • Maintain timeline of project and report to Sales on progress
      • Support Production Departments in the troubleshooting of molds and document mold design changes based on the troubleshooting.

      Minimum Requirements

      • Solidworks experience, capable of designing a mold in Solidworks such that the resulting file is capable of being used to create machine paths.  Prefer the capability to also design cutting tools
      • Experience with designing plastic injection molds
      • Experience with progressive components products for mold making
      • Ability to properly document designs
      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to self-motivate
      • Leadership capabilities and aptitude
      • Must live within commuting distance from plant

      Preferred Requirements

      • Experience in a mold making shop with EDM, CNC mill programming, CNC lathe programming, Bridgeport mills, lathe work, and fixturing
      • Moderate to Expert level experience with MS Office Suite products, especially Excel, Word and Project
      • Ability to quote new tooling

      Quality Assurance Manager – Newburyport, MA Newburyport, MA

      Da/Pro Rubber, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of precision molded rubber and plastic components for various industries.  The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will maintain the Quality Management System, enforce all statutory and regulatory requirements and oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and staff.This position is located at our Newburyport, MA plant – 15 Malcolm Hoyt Drive.

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      • Hiring and training quality assurance staff
      • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department
      • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive

      Required Skills/Abilities:

      • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards
      • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
      • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs

      • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
      • Effective communication skills, a high level of interpersonal skills,  the ability to interact with the customer and develop strong personal working relationships at all organizational levels are a must.
      • Knowledge of effective industrial sales techniques with a passion to learn new strategies.
      • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks concurrently and to work independently.

      Chief Chemist – Broken Arrow, OK Broken Arrow, OK

      Da/Pro Rubber, a leading custom manufacturer of precision rubber & plastics parts, is seeking a Chief Chemist. This position will be responsible for developing and improving rubber formulations while managing the systems that interface with quality and production. Some experience related to business development, customer relations, or direct support to these functions is highly desirable.

      Job Summary

      The Chemists work with the company’s Chief Chemist in making lab improvements and adjustments to procedures.  The Chemist position analyzes rubber samples to confirm compliance with specifications.  When anomalies or quality issues arise, the Chemist is the first point of problem-solving contact and works with various areas of the company to determine any necessary compound adjustments.  The Chemists may travel to industry conferences and training as needed.

      Job Functions

      • Development of rubber compounds for a variety of markets and applications;
      • Analysis of failures from failed rubber production batches and customer returns including troubleshooting of manufacturing processes and methods;
      • Analytical testing of rubber products and interpretation of test data;
      • Evaluation of findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes;
      • Completion of process and ISO standards documentation
      • Preparation of technical reports for use by engineering, management and sales
      • Design of experiments
      • Creation of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) documents;

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year accredited college or university in Chemistry or Polymer Science
      • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, preferably related to manufacturing with a good understanding of standard deviation, normal distributions and process capability measures
      • Advanced proficiency with standard lab equipment, MS Office Suite and standard web browsers
      • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Five to ten years of experience in a rubber mixing and manufacturing environment
      • Experience with compounding requirements for all polymer families for medical, consumer and aerospace applications
      • Familiarity with all mixing techniques of thermoset elastomers

      JOB SUMMARY

      The position’s responsibilities include coordinating and supporting production department and ensure smooth operation.  The candidate will work closely with our operator, supervisor, and business partner to develop new product.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Maintenance of all machines and proper documentation of training records.
      • Familiarize with the operating procedure for all machines.
      • Repair of machines in the event of breakdown.
      • To maintain proper spare part list.
      • To maintain proper material inventory / stock taking.

      The ideal candidate will have significant experience overseeing and directing quality in an ISO 13485 environment.

      • At least 4 years of supervisory/management experience.
