Commodity vs. Engineering Plastic in Plastic Grommets and Valves Fabrication

Da/Pro Rubber manufactures plastic components including check valves by injection molding. Plastic fabrication is done by machining, blow molding, dipping, and injection molding. Plastic injection molding produces high quality, tight tolerance check valves, grommets and custom shapes. Da/Pro Rubber uses a variety of plastics including engineering plastics. Engineering plastic material has superior mechanical and thermal properties over a wider range of conditions than commodity plastics. This makes them more ideal for check valves and grommets. Engineering Plastics include:

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)
Polycarbonates (PC)
Polyamides (PA)
Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

Polyphenylene oxide (PPO)
Polysulphone (PSU)
Polyetherketone (PEK)
Polyetheretherketone (PEEK)
Polyimides

Commodity Plastics are more commonly used and in great quantities for plastic bags, plastic cups and other disposable consumer products. These include: polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE). These are not ideal for plastic check valves or plastic grommets used in industrial applications.
